New Jersey & NYC

May 15, 2010 - 300 miles from Washington DC, we arrived at night in Ridgefield, New Jersey, ready for another break with one of my best gals from high school, April.  We had an amazing Vietnamese dinner at Mo' Pho (haha), one of April's favorite spots in a heavily Korean neighborhood in NJ.

May 16, 2010 - April took Charlie and I for Charlie's first city tour of NYC on subway & on foot.  We covered The Met, visited my favorite ABC Carpet & Home near Union Square and trekked all the way to Battery Park, where April hustles for work! We were educated about NYC history from April and her friend Laurie who's also a tour guide in the city.  We ended the day at McSorley's, a sweet little pub established in 1854, the oldest operating saloon in NYC, where they brag of Abe Lincoln visiting their joint.  I sadly forgot to take pictures, but this place did not disappoint.  Super tiny and musty, we tasted their only 2 choices of beer, simply called dark or light at 2 for 1 prices plus saltines with sliced cheddar & onions.  Doesn't sound too appetizing, but it was above and beyond.

May 17, 2010 - After a satisfying meal at the Golden Eagle diner in Palisades Park, NJ, with April & her man, Chris, April bid us farewell.  Thanks April for being the best guide ever!  Our legs were thoroughly soar from our all day NYC trek.
At Mo' Pho, you can order a Crazy Mo' Pho.  We didn't.

New Jersey Diner food at the Golden Eagle Diner in Palisades Park, NJ.  April's robust eggs and sausage with pancakes.  This place puts California diners to shame.
