Hot Springs National Park, AR

April 23, 2010 -Driving out of the Ouachita Mountains, we toured around Hot Springs Natl' Park, the nation's first federally protected area situated in the City of Hot Springs (taken over in 1832 to preserve 47 natural hot springs).  The hot springs, during the Golden Age received over a million visitors a year, ready to bath for therapeutic properties in the bathhouses at the historical Bathhouse Row.  The most famous bathhouse built in 1914-15, Fordyce is now the park's visitor center.
View of the City of Hot Springs from the park, with a major storm brewing that we encountered further in the day.
The historical district in Hot Springs, with a fountain of intense heat fronting the Fordyce.
The Fordyce Bathhouse
Gorgeous stained glass ceiling in the men's bathing area at the Fordyce.
A Golden Age lounging area in the Fordyce.
The antiquated gymnasium at the Fordyce. (kinda freaked me out)
A horrible shot of the hot spring piping the Fordyce baths.
