Graceland! Memphis, TN

April 23, 2010 - We arrived Memphis, TN in the mid afternoon, 188 miles drive from the City of Hot Springs, AR.  And what a crazy drive it was.  Driving east from Arkansas, we had a major storm chasing our backs, heading for Memphis.  Sitting on the back of the Goldwing is no easy task on a super windy and wet day.  I had to hold my helmet down, switching hands whilst receiving constant whip lash movements on the highway with Charlie driving 80 mph & weaving in the wind.  Oh, and receiving intense wind tunnels from semi's on this major 40 East highway.  Charlie was a super trooper, battling out the weather as the Goldwing pilot.  Our evening was spent listening to constant thunder and lightning as the rain poured hard on the city.

April 24, 2010 - Our visit to Graceland was a short walk from our hotel, the Days Inn, with the famous guitar shaped pool and Elvis themed quarters.  We were greeted with early morning showers, then a brief hiatus of rain let us walk to our tour of Elvis' mansion.  An encore of thunder and lightning while touring the mansion made for an interesting walkabout the King's home.  We finished our day running errands in this laid back city, doing a much needed nothing, and writing this blog.
The King's (quite suprisingly) modest mansion.
Elvis' living room with major flair.
His graphic two-toned TV room.
Crazy fabric printed ceiling with Tiffany lamp in Elvis' billiard room.
Elvis' "jungle" room.
 Don't Be Cruel, going gold.
An intense trophy room.
Bedazzled jumpsuits and a plethora of awards.
Elvis was a man, proud to bedazzle.
Learning Elvis history on the obligatory audio tour.
The guitar shaped pool at our hotel.
