Leroy Percy State Park - Hollandale, Mississippi

April 25, 2010  After riding out the crazy storm with thunder, lightning and tornadoes in Memphis, we headed off south in Mississippi, riding next to the Mississippi River.  We had a motorcycle view of the Delta state from Hwy 61, cruising through the country towns by the river.  Our pit stop, 201 miles from Memphis, off the 12 in Hollandale was Leroy Percy State Park.  A hidden gem of ancient oak trees covered in Spanish moss, and cypress trees steeped in the alligator infested lake/swamp water.  Awesome.  We started hiking through a slightly overgrown trail that I immediately retracted from when I heard a loud splash in the water right next to me.  I did not want to find out if an alligator was going to jump out, so I promptly headed out of the swamp!  Chicken.  Charlie laughed it off, stayed in there longer and took pictures of a snake he found lurking in the waters.
