Prairie & Mountain Driving from Wyoming to Montana

May 31, 2010 - After our overnight stop in Ranchester, WY (252 miles on the 90 heading northwest from Mount Rushmore), we head further north to Montana.  We drive 370 miles through the incredible prairie grasslands with crazy big sky and open road for miles, then through the snow covered Big Horn National Forest, reaching up to 9,500 feet, and back down through rainy weather to Butte, Montana.  Wishing we could camp, the Montana weather was too cold and rainy for us to want to break out the tent.

Beauty in Wyoming.  Big Sky, open road.
Climbing the Big Horn National Forest road.
Snow drive!
Rest stop at 9,430 feet
Haha, Butte's Best Value.  Our overnight stop.
