June 20 & 21, 2010 - Driving on Hwy 12, we reach Bryce Canyon National Park, 126 miles from Capitol Reef. Bryce Canyon was truly a magical and special place. The canyon landscape was shaped from freeze-thaw weather, unlike the typical river cycles that forms canyons. Erosion shaped much of the canyon into pinnacles or hoodoos. The bright shades of orange limestone covered the rock forest, with green Ponderosa pine contrasting the unique landscape. The high-meadow plateau was indeed a stunning site to see. We enjoyed 2 days at North campground, hiking over 4 miles of trails, including the enchanting Queen's Garden hike, through the hoodoo canyon forest.
At camp, Charlie spots a pair of horny toads!
He totally is in love with them and wants to keep them as pets.
I was made to take MANY shots of these little guys, from every perspective possible.
How gorgeous is this sunset from our first day's hike!
Another sunset shot.
The pinnacles of Bryce!
