July 29, 2010 - Heading north on the 97 Alaska Hwy, we arrive our overnight stop at Watson Lake after 130 miles. Finally, we cross over to the Yukon Territory! We stumble upon the Air Force Lodge, a quaint motel. Completely rebuilt, this historical site was once a WWII U.S. pilots' barracks, ironically ran and owned by a German. Michael, our German host paid homage to the antiquated spirit and refurbished the place with much charm. The place was spotless and we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay.
July 30, 2010 - From the previous day, we had started smelling a wildfire burning nearby. Getting ready to leave in the morning, Charlie and I wonder why everyone else left even earlier than us from the lodge. Not realizing how dumb we are, Michael explained that it was to beat the smoke coming from the wildfire while it was still cool. Unfortunately leaving too late and not knowing of this trick, we left a super smoked-out Watson Lake, hoping that the smoke would not chase us on the highway to our next destination. After some driving, we were lucky to beat the smoke and drive out of the nearby wildfire to our next stop, Dawson Peaks in the city of Teslin.

The Air Force Lodge, former WW2 barracks.
Watson Lake's famed Sign Post Forest!
Since the area was shrouded in smoke, we only took shots from the bike.
We literally gawked for about a minute as it was way too smokey to linger around.
