Cape Disappointment, WA

Aug. 30, 2010 - 187 miles from the Hoh Rain Forest, we start our Pacific coast through Washington.  We ended at Cape Disappointment State Park, bordering Oregon.  The drive was windy and gorgeous.  We opted for overnight beach camping and ended a little north from the enormous mouth of the Columbia River, famed from Lewis and Clark's expedition.  The beaches are covered in mass amounts of driftwood, dotted with stunning rock formations lining the coast.  Although the day had beautiful blues skies, we got hit with a sudden rain storm and ended up leaving the morning after, completely drenched and packed up all our camping gear soaked to the bone.

Waikiki Beach (named after one of the members of Lewis and Clark's expedition who was from the previously named, Sandwich Islands, now known as Hawaii)
