The Badlands, SD

May 29, 2010 - On the same day from Mitchell's Corn Palace, we drive 209 miles further west on the 90 to the Badlands National Park.  Originally planned to camp here overnight, we opted for a scenic drive since the weather was super cold and ready to storm.  We were in awe of the geological deposits surrounded in grasslands in what's considered one of the world's richest fossil beds.  After the gorgeous drive, we headed to Custer, our overnight stop before heading to Mt. Rushmore.

Scenic
and spectacular
drive through Badland Country,
with 244,000 acres protected.
