Corn Palace! Mitchell, South Dakota

May 29, 2010 - After Chicago, we drive 2 days via La Crosse, WI & Brandon, SD, 651 miles to Mitchell, South Dakota.  We stopped at the one and only, Corn Palace established in 1892.  This crazy structure made from corn was first erected to display the early settlers harvest- to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil!  There's a new theme each year and an annual festival.  Too funny.  Thanks to my nephew Josh in Racine for the stop over tip!
